DNC in PANIC mode; issues awkward statement about involvement in Trump-Russia dossier

The Clinton campaign and DNC were happy to inject some foreign intervention into the 2016 presidential election, an explosive Washington Post article revealed last night.

Remember that discredited anti-Trump dossier that Buzzfeed published after Trump’s victory?

When BuzzFeed published the dossier of unproven claims about Trump and Russia back in January in January, a number of former Clinton campaign aides expressed outrage that news outlets who’d obtained the dossier prior to election day didn’t publish it – as if it was a surprise that most mainstream networks would have more credibility than Buzzfeed. Hillary airs the same grievence in her book “What Happened” about her presidential loss.

All that outrage is phony however, because Hillary and her campaign were well aware of the dossier. In fact, they funded it.

According to the Washington Post, The Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund research that resulted in a now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump’s connections to Russia and possible coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin, people familiar with the matter said.

Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research.

After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to those people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, retained the company in April 2016 on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Before that agreement, Fusion GPS’s research into Trump was funded by an unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC, through the law firm, continued to fund Fusion GPS’s research through the end of October 2016, days before Election Day.

And now the DNC, which had to fire their prior chairwoman (Little Debbie) over ethics concerns (and replace their interim chair, Donna Brazile, after it was discovered that she had abused her position at CNN to leak Hillary debate questions), is now expressing shock at the revelations – SHOCK I tell you!

The DNC replied in a statement, “Tom Perez and the new leadership of the DNC were not involved in any decision-making regarding Fusion GPS, nor were they aware that Perkins Coie was working with the organization. But let’s be clear, there is a serious federal investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, and the American public deserves to know what happened.”

Well, no kidding. Tom Perez didn’t become DNC chair until February of 2017 – a month after the dossier was published.

Did anyone think he had any involvement in the first place? I’ve never seen anything to indicate as much, making it odd that they’re deflecting in pointing out that a man nobody suspected played any role in the matter indeed didn’t play any role in the matter.

Given that it was the old DNC leadership tasked with the goal of launching Hillary Clinton into the White House, who cares that (or “if”) it wasn’t the new DNC leadership involved?

It is however, amusing to see them bring up Trump and Russia in that statement, despite the fact that investigations into that supposed collusion have yet to turn up anything.

Now Hillary’s relationship with the Russians when it comes to the Uranium One scandal is another story…
